We often fall in love with banded agate whenever we see it - the natural stripes are so beautiful and we love the contrasting colours of the stone. This banded agate cabochon has been set in a gold-tone base metal with wonderful details throughout. There's a rope border around the banded agate and to the bottom pretty beaded fringing with little points to the end, graduating in length - this fringing gives the pendant gorgeous movement when worn.
We believe the pendant is likely late Victorian in age given its style and materials used. The banded agate is set in a closed setting with the pendant having a slightly concave back.
The pendant measures approx 45.5mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 21.2mm wide by approx 10.5mm deep and weighs approx 5.4g in total.
Condition - The pendant is in good antique condition but does show significant signs of age and wear. The rope style frame has come away from the setting of the banded agate to the left hand side. It is still secure though as it is still attached on the right hand side. There is surface wear, scratches and some old solder marks to the base metal. One of the points on the fringing (far left) is a little bent at the end of the point. The banded agate is in good condition with just some light surface wear to the stone. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
*Please note the antique box and chain pictured are not included in the sale but the pendant will be shipped in a new presentation box and pouch.*
