This Vintage gold compass charm/pendant is such a fun piece of a jewellery. The compass needle moves (we can't vouch for it's accuracy today though), giving the charm a lovely quirky element. We love its symbolism too, representing motivation and direction.
The compass casing/frame is made of 9ct gold and the back has British hallmarks for the maker 'ZLD', 9ct gold, London and the date letter 'k' for 1965. The case has a lovely twisted edge style gold border.
The compass itself has a clear plastic casing and a blue metal needle in the centre. There is what looks to be a cardboard printed backing that has the compass points on.
The pendant measures approx 22mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 18.8mm wide by approx 6.6mm deep and weighs approx 2.2g.
Condition - The pendant is in good vintage condition but does show signs of age and wear to both the gold outer casing and the compass. There is a mark to the compass backing near the centre and the plastic casing of the compass is scratched in places. There is some surface wear to the gold outer casing, including wear and some small indents to the gold, mainly to the back. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. As mentioned above the compass needle does still move but we cannot vouch for its accuracy. it can sometimes become a little stuck but with a light shake it frees the needle and it moves as it should again.
