We love finding vintage opening charms, they are such fun pieces to wear and are sure to catch people's eyes when worn too. This vintage gold sphinx charm opens to reveal a tiny gold mummy inside surrounded by black enamel to make the gold pop, perfect for a history lover!
The charm is made of 9ct gold and has British hallmarks for ther maker 'PPLD', 9ct gold, Birmingham. There is also a date letter hallmark but this is now quite worn and hard to make out clearly. We believe the charm likely dates to circa 1960s.
The charm measures approx 13.3mm tall (not including the jump ring) by approx 16.8mm wide by approx 7mm deep and weighs approx 3.4g.
Condition - The charm is in good vintage condition with some signs of age and wear, including some light surface wear to the gold and wear and loss to the black enamel inside. The hinge still works well and the charm clicks firmly closed. The jump ring is currently pushed closed. Please see photos.
